Description

Mamaki is a small understory tree that grows in the wet forest.  It likes filtered light and often grows in openings where there is more light.  It has a short life span.  It usually lives from 5-10 years maximum.  It is the food plant for the native butterfly, Kamehameha.  The fresh (and dried) leaves are used for making herbal tea.

Approximately 30 seeds.

How to grow:

Plant in well drained soil.  Keep soil moist but not soaking.  Keep in filtered light at 60-90 degrees fahrenheit.
